In searching tirelessly for a Tree House location north of Boston, we reached numerous dead ends when trying to find a property that met our standard marrying great architecture, accessibility, and an expansive outdoor environment. We were so delighted to find this property; with it’s towering timber frame aesthetic, it mimics a property that we would have considered building ourselves. It is an ideal showcase for the tremendous talents of our creative teams in brewing, coffee roasting, distilling, farming, and cooking.

To that end, we are pleased to finally introduce a beer that was originally dreamed up over six years ago and has haunted our headspace since. Beginner’s Mind is a Tree House Double IPA brewed with a careful and unique-to-us selection of American & Australian hops. Carving out a distinctive place in our line-up, it pours an opaque orange color in the glass and tastes of ripe summer melon, tropical fruit salad, clementine juice, and mango ice cream. This beer has swagger - You won’t find anything else like it. Contact us - we are here to help and will respond as quickly as possible.

Our in-house coffee program provides the ideal cold brew for John to help craft the perfect Coffee Liqueur. This in-house control carries real value, and far exceeds that of a contract-based approach. Eau de Vie is an unforgiving spirit that tests a distiller’s acumen.

Beyond Beer

John’s approach to distilling is as artful as you can imagine, given his background. Gravitating toward eclectic ingredients, ‘the hard way’ is John’s default. For example, while there are many ways to approach a coffee liqueur that result in a delicious spirit, we have found that a bit of extra effort makes a tangible difference in its inherent enjoyability. Typically, coffee liqueur is made by steeping a few sourced ingredients in a neutral spirit.

Crushing demand for our beer and visitation often led to a poor experience at our brewery in Charlton. But, in keeping with our longstanding promise to you, we used time during COVID to make moves. In 2021, we invested in two communities, Sandwich and Deerfield, in order to spread out the demand for our products and experiences. This has worked incredibly well - the experience of visiting Tree House is vastly improved from 2019 because of these investments and the tireless energy and enthusiasm of our team. In fact, we recommend visiting it purely as a beer to go destination for now given it's efficiency and excellent selection.

Move to Charlton

So, if you intend to purchase beer as a gift (or, for yourself!) keep it cold and you will be in great shape! Like anything perishible, warm temperatures will accelerate these timelines. Sandwich is open for draft and beer to go, and you can place your beer to go order here. The company subsequently bought a farm in Woodstock, Connecticut; the building in Deerfield, once home to a publishing company; a facility overlooking Cape Cod Bay in Sandwich; and the entire Tewksbury Country Club. And some breweries are true destinations, multipurpose facilities that bring people in for live music, art shows, trivia nights, arcade and board games, corporate functions and more.

Still, Boston Beer ranked as the largest regional brewery in the country, beating out Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. in California by more than 580,000 barrels. Jack’s Abby, now the second largest brewery outside of Boston, reported only a 3% decline in 2020 despite losing 40% of its production volume early on during the pandemic when it lost all of its on-premise accounts — bars and restaurants. Even as the 40,800 barrels Jack’s Abby sold fell short of its goal, co-founder Sam Hendler said the brewery feels blessed it managed even that amount.

It's unusual for a brewery to offer great beers, outstanding food, live music from nationally recognized acts and the possibility of hosting birthday parties, business functions and even weddings, but Tree House in Deerfield is indeed an unusual place. We have developed an easy procedure for you to place an order in advance and select a time slot for pickup. Feel free to arrive at the brewery before your pickup time to enjoy a draft pour from one of our two bars. Pre-purchase of draft tickets is no longer necessary.

Draft Beer

The Country Club is situated ideally just minutes off of both Interstate 495 and 93 and less than 30 minutes from downtown Boston. Though it resides on a busy thoroughfare, it is constructed in a way that focuses your attention on the incredible green space behind and around it. We will evolve the space into an expansive and inviting beer hall and retail store and continue to operate the golf course and various amenities with the full strength of our crew behind it. Tree House is purchasing Tewksbury Country Club from Marc Ginsburg and family. In getting to know Marc and his team, and in learning the history of the Club, it was clear that they share the same passion for great experiences and the meticulous attention to detail that we do.

We take great pride in making our products from start to finish - you can taste the difference that this makes. We maintain a brewery in Monson, Massachusetts, a Farm Fermentory in Woodstock Connecticut, a brewery in Deerfield, a taproom and brewery on Cape Cod, and a golf course and taproom in Tewksbury. We take a great deal of pride in our creative ecosystem at Tree House.

Kola, our liqueur, is made with a custom-malted mash of roasted and chocolate malts, approximating chocolate-forward coffee flavor before distillation and remaining as a beautiful and powerful single malt spirit after it. The subsequent coffee infusion results from an exacting in-house roasting process to find the smooth, chocolate-forward flavor profile we were in search of for our liqueur. The outcome of these efforts is greater than the sum of its parts - the flavor profile is remarkable in its depth, character, and enjoyability. We have constructed the space and set aside resources to embark upon an irresponsibly ambitious bourbon program.
